What we collect
When you sign in: your email address, so we can send you a one-time sign-in link. We don't use passwords.
Things you create in the app, stored so they persist across visits:
- Articles you save ("My Saves")
- Custom RSS feeds you add
- RSS Packs (collections of sources) you build, including private ones — if you type a place name into an RSS Pack's location field (e.g. "Ann Arbor, MI"), that's the free text you typed, not your device's actual location
- Which sources you've pinned, hidden, or turned down in your reading view
- Topics you've proposed for the taxonomy
- Sources you've given a thumbs-up
- Your layout and display preferences
None of the above is visible to anyone else by default. Saves and RSS Packs only become visible to other people if you explicitly toggle them to "public" — you can toggle it back to private at any time.
Automatically, in the background:
- We keep a simple, anonymous count of which articles get clicked and which pages get viewed, so we can tell what's resonating. This isn't tied to your account or identity — it's a tally, not a log of what any specific person read.
- We briefly hold your IP address in server memory (not written to any database) to stop spam on things like the "suggest a source" form. This is discarded automatically, not stored long-term.
What we don't collect: tracking pixels, ad identifiers, or third-party advertising trackers; precise location data; payment information (there's nothing to buy); the content of any external site you click through to.
How your information is used
Your email is used only to send sign-in links and, if you contact us, to respond to you. Everything you save or build is used only to show it back to you, and — only if you choose to share it — to show it to people you've shared a link with. Anonymous click/view counts are used to understand what content readers find useful.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. We have no advertising business, so there's no commercial reason for us to.
Sharing with other services
A few outside services help run the app, and each only sees what it needs to do its job:
- Resend — delivers sign-in emails. Sees your email address for that purpose only.
- Turso — hosts our database.
- Render — hosts the app itself.
- YouTube (Google) — the Videos section fetches listings from YouTube's public API. This doesn't involve your account information.
- Bluesky (AT Protocol) — public post data is read from Bluesky's open API to power features like Trending/On Trend. We also operate a Bluesky bot account that posts headlines publicly; this doesn't involve reader account data.
None of these services are permitted to use your information for their own purposes beyond providing their service to us.
Links to other sites
The app links out to the original articles and outlets it aggregates. Once you leave our app for one of those sites, that site's own privacy policy applies — we have no control over what they collect.
Your rights (EU/UK/California residents)
If you're located in the EU, UK, or California, you may have additional rights over your personal information under laws like the GDPR or CCPA — including the right to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, and to ask what we've collected. You already have a fast path to most of this in-app (the "Delete my account" option below deletes everything), but you can also reach out to us directly at the contact below to exercise any of these rights. We're a small, ad-free project — we don't sell personal information and have nothing to opt out of in that sense — but we want this option available and easy regardless of where you're located.
Data retention and deletion
We automatically erase your email address after 90 days of inactivity. If you haven't signed in or used your account for 90 days, we remove your email from our records — you'd need to sign up again with a fresh sign-in link to use the app after that.
Anything you built while active — saved articles, RSS Packs, custom feeds — is not deleted along with your email. If any of it was already public, it stays visible under your account exactly as before; only the email tying it back to you is gone. Once your email is erased, a new sign-in with the same address starts a brand-new account.
You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, directly in the app. The You tab has a "Delete my account" option that permanently removes your saves, your RSS Packs, your custom sources, and every preference — unlike the automatic 90-day process above, this also removes content you'd made public. This can't be undone.
If you'd rather not use the in-app option, contact us at lolgopstudios@gmail.com and we'll delete it for you.
Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at lolgopstudios@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Planned features (not built yet)
We're considering an email digest — a periodic summary of what's in your RSS Packs or Saves — as an opt-in feature, and possibly a paid "backer" tier. Neither exists today, and this policy doesn't currently cover either:
- A digest feature would require your explicit opt-in, separate from the sign-in email you already receive.
- A paid tier would involve a payment processor handling your payment information directly — we would never store card details ourselves. This policy will be updated to name the processor before any paid feature goes live.
If you're reading this before either feature ships, nothing here applies to you yet.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, let signed-in readers know.
